The mosaic work, Pialassa, by Rebecca Sforzani depicts various species of birds native to the ecosystem of the pialasse of Ravenna - big lagoons that connect pine forests to the sea and get their name from the dialectal form pia e laza, meaning change of the tides. The artist researched the relationship between humans and nature in relation to the specificity of the territory. Walking through the pine forest of San Vitale, she discovered the presence of various atolls, where, in autumn, hunters place "hunting barrels" emerging from the water level. Once the hunting season is over, these barrels reveal the nesting of some species of birds. It is precisely this contradiction that gave inspiration to the artwork, which goes to explore the encounter/clash between humans and nature.
