I have ignored the reality, the meaning of the verses and their words. I have sought in Dante's words that which the mosaics express and every work is like the opening of a new vortex.
The ferment of the narrative, the incitement, the fantastic leavening of the dream of life and death have been moments - or rather years - of febrile formulation, of reading, of meditation. I also found myself in an underworld from which I thought I would never escape - but faith, illumination, the sense and the fear of the infinite guided me towards the divine light of form and colour.
Obsessive tension and the practice of creativity make an unavoidable journey; it is the major theme of the mosaic, of the light; it is a hazard converted in the experimenting into a light which defines and bears witness to a cultural reawakening.
