Nicholas Fox Weber is the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation director; he is also art critic and author of lots monographs about art and architecture.

Josef Albers (1888-1976) was born in Bottrop, Germany, from a humble origins family. The main changing of his life was in 1920 when Albers knew about Bauhaus. He attended The Vorkus (the foundamental class) where he was one of the oldest and the poorest students of the school. For this reason most of Albers work materials came from Weimar rubbish dump. He made small mosaics with glass bottles, pottherd and wires used to bound together the plugs. Between 1922 and 1924 he made also a huge bright red glass window for the Bauhaus Director's office.
