Solo exhibition by CaCO3
CaCO3 (Âniko Ferreira da Silva, Giuseppe Donnaloia, Pavlos Mavromatidis) have made mosaic their chosen medium, developing a strictly formal poetic language, which uses an analytical and neo-archeological approach to emphasize, sometimes to an extreme degree, the specific characteristics of mosaic techniques. The inclination of the tesserae becomes an instrument for compositional research, their variations and micro-variations being used to shape evocative iridescent surfaces. On show in this exhibition are the most recent results of long-standing artistic study that has its roots in antiquity for a re-reading of contemporary art’s incoherent forms.

This exhibition is part of the project O(Ax)=dO(Am) - Equazione Impossibile. It was curated by Marte Associazione Culturale, that also hosted two collective shows in 2011 and 2013 where mosaic artists as well as artists of other mediums exchanged cultures and ideas. In 2015, this project evolved to concentrate on some of the most interesting artistic explorations that have roots in the mosaic language. Two individual exhibitions: Luca Barberini and CaCO3 launch a journey into the variety of possibilities that mosaic art offers today, confirming the vitality of an expressive art that never ceases to surprise.
